KHALI BAILEY

MBA, NBC-HWC, FMCHC, CPT

I was in my early twenties when I realized I was gaining weight. I didn’t think too much about it because, most of the time, I was too busy partying even to consider making a change. It wasn’t until 2009 that it hit me.

I was visiting my girlfriend’s family in New York, and they had a scale in the bathroom. I was curious to see how much I weighed since our apartment didn’t have a scale (a huge mistake).

I was shocked to see the number that popped up, but once I got over the shock, I went back to eating everything I planned to eat before we got there.

Who goes on vacation to eat healthy? Am I right?

When I returned home, I got a membership to the gym and started walking on the treadmill every day. After about a month, I still wasn’t seeing the progress I thought I should.

Full disclosure, I was a manager at Taco Bell, so I was still eating quesadillas and nachos to my heart’s content. I also drank too much alcohol on my days off.

I thought I could eat the same way I’d been eating if I burned more calories. I was wrong. Thinking that way led to a weight loss, weight gain roller coaster.

I’ve tried many diets, from the Military to the egg diet. I’ve done regular Keto, Ketotarian, Paleo, Pescatarian, Vegetarian; you name it.

All I found out was that I hate dieting. I bet you can feel me on that.

I needed to make changes that were easy to stick to. There’s no point in starting a diet that has an end date because, chances are, on that end date, you will eat all the things you haven’t had.

How often have you said, “I’m gonna stick to this for 30 days”? Then once that 30 days is up, you find yourself eating things that don’t make you feel good and gaining the weight back you’ve just worked so hard to lose (sometimes with a few added pounds).

The reason this happens is because lifestyle change is not just about diets. So many other things must be considered when you’re trying to make changes to your health.

How are you sleeping? Are you stressed out? How are your relationships? Did you get any movement in today?

Optimal health is my goal, and since you’re here with me, I believe it’s yours.

If I’m honest with myself and you, I have to say that I didn’t get serious about my health until almost a decade later when my doctor put me on statins for my high cholesterol.

I was only on them for about a month before I realized they weren’t for me. I discovered a massive rash on the back of my neck, and the muscle pain was terrible.

One day I was at work venting to a coworker about the meds, and she told me she had just started Keto and that I should check it out.

The next thing I know, I’m reading nothing but health books and only listening to health podcasts.

I realized that unless you’re looking for this information, you would have no idea how to get and, more importantly, stay healthy.

I never considered myself passionate about any job I’ve ever had, but this was it! I had found my calling. That’s when I decided to enroll in the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy.

Functional medicine is all about determining how and why an illness occurs. It’s about addressing the root cause of disease to restore and promote optimal wellness in each individual.

I figured I could get the info and get it out there to people who may not be privy to it. That’s how I ended up here.

I have lost over 85 pounds using the tools that I also use in my coaching practice.

Those are the tools I will give you when you hire me as your health coach.

But it’s not just about helping you lose weight; it’s about creating habits and routines to help you thrive!

As a coach, I am here to support and guide you on your health journey. I’m here to listen, ask questions, and promote a sense of self-efficacy and self-awareness.

I won’t tell you what to do because, ultimately, you are the expert on your body.

I’m here to support you in finding the answers to what may be holding you back from wellness and to collaborate with you on a plan to overcome those obstacles.

I will meet you where you are and support you to where you want to be.
